Workly automatically generates link previews when you share URLs in chat, and supports Markdown formatting for rich text messages.
Link previews
When you share a URL in a message, Workly fetches a preview showing:
- Title of the linked page
- Description or summary
- Thumbnail image (if available)
- Domain of the link
This works for most websites, articles, and web pages. Link previews make it easy for recipients to understand what you’re sharing without clicking through.
Message formatting
Workly supports GitHub-flavoured Markdown in chat messages:
**bold**— Bold text*italic*— Italic text~~strikethrough~~—Strikethrough text`inline code`— Inline code```code block```— Multi-line code blocks- item— Bullet lists1. item— Numbered lists[text](url)— Links> quote— Block quotes
Contact cards
When someone shares a contact or you click on a user profile, Workly displays a contact card with their name, avatar, role, and online status.
Typing indicators
When someone is typing a message, you’ll see a typing indicator below the conversation. This shows you that someone is about to respond, so you know to wait before sending another message.
Message status
Messages show delivery status indicators:
- Sent — Your message has been sent to the server
- Delivered — The message reached the recipient
- Read — The recipient has seen your message
