Chat groups and channels in Workly let you organise conversations by topic, team, or project. As a group admin, you have full control over membership and settings.
Add members
- Open the group or channel
- Click the Members icon in the header
- Click Add Members
- Search for and select workspace members
- Click Add
New members can see the group’s message history from the point they were added.
Remove members
- Open the Members panel
- Find the member you want to remove
- Click the remove option
Removed members lose access to the group and its messages.
Promote to admin
Make a member an admin to give them group management permissions:
- Open the Members panel
- Click on the member you want to promote
- Select Promote to Admin
Admins can add/remove members, change group settings, and manage other members.
Demote from admin
Remove admin privileges from a member:
- Open the Members panel
- Click on the admin you want to demote
- Select Remove Admin
Change group name
Update the group or channel name:
- Click the group name in the header
- Enter the new name
- Save changes
Assign tasks from chat
Turn messages into tasks and assign them to group members directly from the chat. This helps capture action items during discussions without switching to the tasks page.
